This final episode of Caio Terra’s Worlds training camp videos for the 2013 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championships shows Caio Terra and his team perform at the tournament. The weeks of preparation and training shown in the previous videos all come to a conclusion as the technique and conditioning work the grapplers had put their bodies through were showcased at the California State University in Long Beach, California in front of thousands of competitors and fans. In addition to the live audience, there were also thousands more who streamed the competition online!
That’s enough of a crowd to throw off the game of even the most experienced athlete. The additional stress of finally putting your work into practice, competing in front of a crowd, and the sometimes inconsistent refereeing by the officials didn’t seem to faze Caio, though. Caio Terra went on to win a gold medal in the Blackbelt Rooster (Galo) weight division! This makes Caio one of the only competitors to ever win Mundials seven different times.
In the final match, Caio had to face his long-time rival, Bruno Da Silva Malfacine for the championship. Bruno and Caio have always had very close, competitive matches in tournaments, but Caio’s training camp and preparation work came through to allow Caio to take home the gold. This seventh World Championship title adds to his already outstanding resume of being a multi-time gold medalist at the Pan Championships, Nogi Pan Championships, and Nogi World Championships.
Gameness is proud to have been able to work with Caio and his team during this training camp, as well as work with the IBJJF to sponsor the 2013 IBJJF World BJJ Championships! Anytime we have the opportunity to support competitors, tournament promoters, fans, or anyone within the BJJ community, it’s an opportunity to help spread the art of BJJ!
